After a recent audit the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) noted key areas for improvement when procuring AI tools in recruitment of employees. They have made over 300 recommendations as a result.
The ICO has also however helpfully published 6 key questions to ask before procuring an AI tool to help with employee recruitment which all employers and recruiters should consider when using AI to assist with recruitment.
AI is often being used in recruitment to help with sourcing candidates, summarising CVs and scoring applicants, but the ICO have found that as a result of recruiters not using these correctly, jobseekers could be negatively impacted and have their privacy compromised.
These questions are not only useful for recruitment but can be asked whenever your business might be using AI. You can view this in detail here: Thinking of using AI to assist recruitment? Our key data protection considerations | ICO
