About Amy
Amy Hallam is an employment law specialist Solicitor/Director at BRM and is head of our Employment Law Team.
Qualifying as a solicitor in 2002, she has practised employment law for over 20 years and became a Director at BRM in April 2014.
Amy advises employers of varying sizes and industries (including councils) nationally in all aspects of employment law and HR as well as overseeing BRM’s successful annual retainer scheme, Employment Law Service Scheme (‘ELSS’), which has been running since 2004.
Amy and the employment law team represent clients in ACAS conciliation and Employment Tribunal claims. This has involved both successfully defending claims and recovering costs in appropriate cases.
The team also assist employees with settlement agreement advice and in ACAS conciliation/ Employment Tribunal claims.
Amy has specialist knowledge of care industry businesses (including CQC) which can often include complex advice.
The work undertaken by Amy and the team is varied, but there is also a bespoke advice approach to every business as no one size fits all and every business matters no matter the size.
Amy has a common sense approach to all problems and the advice she gives. She provides the client with options and risks in a simple and concise way so that an informed decision can be made quickly. In HR and employment law, every day is different and no two problems are the same. With ever-evolving law, Amy and the team also work to ensure all clients are kept up to date with employment law as it evolves.
Amy has a breadth of knowledge that enables her to advise clients on contracts of employment and policies that are bespoke to their business, up to defending high value claims and advising on restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements.
Amy also regularly assists the Corporate and Commercial Property Teams with any employment law queries arising from sales and acquisitions, and commercial property transactions including TUPE.
Amy provides HR Forum updates within Sheffield, Doncaster and Derbyshire throughout the year, and also undertakes in-house training for many corporate clients and other organisations.
