Over £21.5K Raised During Ashgate Hospicecare Free Wills Month
Ashgate Hospicecare will benefit from a donation of more than £21,500 raised by our free wills month which ran last year in support of the charity.During March 2020, BRM Solicitors offered a free will writing service in exchange for a donation to the North Derbyshire charity. Having now collected in donations which had been delayed due to the impact of Covid-19, Ashgate Hospicecare are delighted to confirm the final total.
The month-long initiative proved to be popular, with 187 people signing up to make their will and making a donation to the hospice, which provides vital care for people at the end of their life.
Supporters of the fundraiser were invited to make a minimum donation of £75 in return for BRM waiving their usual will writing fees.
Jack Wood, Head of Fundraising at Ashgate Hospicecare, said he was “thrilled” with the response from BRM’s fundraiser and thanked its clients for their generosity.
He said:
“I am delighted that BRM Solicitors chose to support us, particularly during these uncertain times, when demand for our end-of-life care has never been greater.
It’s wonderful to see how much of a success the fundraiser was and to raise more than £21,500 is fantastic – the donation will go a long way towards helping us support people with life-limiting illnesses across North Derbyshire.
Not only did the fundraiser raise vital funds but it gave the public the opportunity to have a simple will written whilst highlighting the value that legacy giving can have for charities like the hospice. I can’t thank them enough for their support.”

One in five of Ashgate Hospicecare’s patients are cared for as a direct result of money being left to the charity in their will.
